‘Goldman Sachs rules the world’... and the rest of us are screwed (Video)

It may come as no great revelation for a company that has been described as a ‘great vampire squid’ wrapped around the face of humanity, and has claimed that it is ‘doing God’s work’, but according to financial trader Alessio Rastani ‘Goldman Sachs rules the world’ – one in which we are all about to get shafted.

In a clip from BBC News which has rapidly gone viral around the internet, the independent trader says ‘I would say this to everybody who is watching this – this economic crisis is like a cancer… get prepared.’
‘The governments don’t rule the world. Goldman Sachs rules the world. Goldman Sachs does not care about this rescue package – neither does the big funds.

‘Over the next 12 months the savings of millions of people is going to vanish and this is just the beginning.’
The BBC news presenter, perhaps shocked by Rastani's unsentimental avariciousness, clung onto her composure. ‘Jaws have collectively dropped at what you’ve just said. I mean we appreciate your candour – however it doesn’t help the rest of us does it, or the rest of the eurozone,’ she said.

Now this clip is not about the credibility of this trader, nor his agenda or views on the fate of the economy (who is he after all?). It’s about understanding a different perspective on the markets and economy. ‘Every night I dream of another recession,’ says Rastani. It’s a reminder that contrary to the claims of politicians and IMF policymakers, and at a time when political consensus is sadly lacking, we are not in this all together.
