U.K. Minister Charged in Speeding Row

U.K. Energy Secretary Chris Huhne will face charges for perverting the course of justice over an alleged driving offense, the public prosecutor said Friday, increasing pressure on Prime Minister David Cameron to replace a third minister since the formation of his coalition government in 2010.

The Crown Prosecution Service said Mr. Huhne, a senior lawmaker for the smaller coalition partner the Liberal Democrats, has been charged over allegations he asked his then wife to accept a penalty on his behalf for driving above the speed limit in 2003.

Mr. Huhne has denied the allegations.

His ex-wife, Vicky Pryce, an economist who has worked in government and private sector, will also face the same charges.

Keir Starmer, the director of public prosecutions, said the two are due to appear in court on Feb. 16.
